Channel

Channel steel is a long steel strip with a concave cross-section (or "[ ]" shape). It is one of the most widely used steel sections in engineering construction and machinery manufacturing.

Size Range

The specifications of channel steel are mainly distinguished by its size parameters, including but not limited to key dimensions such as height (h), leg width (b), waist thickness (d).

Small channel steel: generally refers to channel steel with a height between 50mm and 100mm.
Medium channel steel: The height range is roughly between 120mm and 180mm.
Large channel steel: usually refers to channel steel with a height of more than 200mm.

Standard

Hot rolled channel steel
GB/T 706
JIS G3192
ASTM A36
EN 10034

Cold-formed channel steel
GB/T 6725
ASTM A1003
JIS G3350
EN 10219

Types

Hot-rolled channel steel:
Production process: The steel billet is rolled through a rolling mill at high temperature.

Cold-bent channel steel/cold-rolled channel steel:
Production process: The thin steel plate (coil) is continuously bent and formed through a roll bending machine at room temperature.

Application

Building structure: beams, columns, purlins, brackets, platform frames, primary and secondary structures of steel structure workshops.
Machinery manufacturing: equipment bases, brackets, guide rails, frames, conveyor belt brackets.
Vehicles and ships: automobile chassis parts, carriage frames, ship bulkheads, deck brackets.
Bridge engineering: auxiliary components of bridges, sidewalk brackets.
Power and telecommunications: transmission towers, antenna brackets, cable tray supports.
Storage shelves: the main body of shelf columns and beams.
Agricultural facilities: greenhouse frames, agricultural machinery frames.
Furniture and appliances: heavy office furniture, shelves, and supporting structures of some appliances.
