Nominal diameter (DN)
National standard (GB/T 12459, GB/T 13401):
Butt weld cap: DN15 ~ DN1200 (1/2" ~ 48")
Threaded cap: DN8 ~ DN100 (1/4" ~ 4")

American standard (ASME B16.9):
Butt weld cap: 1/2" ~ 24" (Sch10 ~ Sch160)
Larger sizes (such as DN1500 and above) can be customized for special needs.

Wall thickness
Varies according to pressure level (such as Sch40, Sch80, Sch160), usually consistent with the wall thickness of the matching pipe.

Butt Weld Caps


ASME B16.9 (American Standard):
Applicable to carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel butt weld caps, size range ½"~48".
Pressure level: Sch10, Sch40, Sch80, Sch160, etc.

ASME B16.25:
Specifies the butt weld end dimensions (groove, wall thickness, etc.).

EN 10253-4 (European Standard):
Applicable to butt weld caps, PN2.5~PN40, size DN10~DN1200.

Threaded Caps


ASME B16.11 (American Standard):
Applicable to socket weld and threaded caps, size 1/8"~4".
Material grade: Class 2000, 3000, 6000 (high pressure).

BS 2779 (British Standard):
Applicable to British Thread (BSP) pipe caps.

Blind Flanges

ASME B16.5 (Flange Standard):
Applicable to Class 150~Class 2500 blind flanges (can replace pipe caps).

EN 1092-1 (European Standard Flange):
PN6~PN100, size DN10~DN4000.

Types

Classification by shape:
Flat-bottom pipe cap: The end is flat, often used in low-pressure environments.
Oval pipe cap: The end is an elliptical arc surface, with strong pressure-bearing capacity.
Hemispherical pipe cap: The pressure-bearing performance is the best, suitable for high-pressure occasions.

Connection method:
Threaded pipe cap: Connected to the pipe by thread, easy to disassemble.
Welded pipe cap: Fixed by welding, better sealing.
Socket pipe cap: Fixed by gluing or welding after inserting into the pipe.
