Angle steel is one of the most commonly used and basic steel sections in engineering and construction. Its L-shaped section provides unique mechanical properties and a wide range of application possibilities.

Types

According to whether the two sides are equal:
Equal Angle: The width of the two sides is exactly the same. This is the most common type. Marking such as: ∠50×50×5 (side width 50mm, thickness 5mm).
Unequal Angle: The width of the two sides is different. Marking such as: ∠100×75×8 (long side 100mm, short side 75mm, thickness 8mm).

According to the production process:
Hot Rolled Angle: After the steel billet is heated to a high temperature, it is rolled into shape by a rolling mill. This is the most important manufacturing method, with large output, relatively low cost, a wide range of size specifications, and good mechanical properties. There is oxide scale (black skin) on the surface.

Cold Formed Angle: The steel plate or steel strip is bent into the shape of an angle steel by a forming roller at room temperature. High dimensional accuracy, good surface quality (smooth), but the wall thickness is usually thin (generally not more than 6mm), the cross-sectional size is relatively small, and the mechanical properties (especially bending and compression resistance) are usually slightly lower than those of hot-rolled angle steel of the same size. It is often used in occasions with high requirements for dimensional accuracy and appearance and low force (such as decoration, light structure).

According to the edge thickness:
Ordinary angle steel: The edge thickness is relatively thin.
Thick-walled angle steel: The edge thickness is larger and the bearing capacity is stronger.

According to the surface treatment:
Black skin angle steel: No surface treatment after hot rolling, there is iron oxide on the surface.
Galvanized angle steel: The surface is hot-dip galvanized or electro-galvanized, with excellent anti-corrosion ability, often used in outdoor, humid or corrosive environments.
Sprayed/painted angle steel: The surface is coated with paint or other anti-corrosion coatings.
Stainless steel angle steel: Made of stainless steel (such as 304, 316), it has excellent corrosion resistance and aesthetics, but the cost is higher.
